The simplest near-term choice is at the library
Twin Falls Public Library lists The Lorax as a free Saturday matinee on July 25 from 3 to 5 p.m. The movie is rated PG. Unlike a workshop, the calendar does not show a registration step.
The calendar does not state room capacity or a reservation system. If a full room would spoil the outing, call the library or arrive before the posted start.
The Herrett museum is free without a show ticket
The Herrett Center says admission to its museum galleries and art exhibits is always free. That does not include a seat at the Faulkner Planetarium, which has a separate ticket price and fixed showtimes.
For a no-ticket visit, use the museum hours rather than the planetarium schedule. The museum opens later on Saturday and is closed Sunday and Monday, so ‘free’ still needs a time check.
Two free Herrett programs have different risks
Reptile Revue is listed as a free program on the first and third Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m., with August sessions on the 4th and 18th. The August 8 monthly star party is also free and runs from 9:45 to 11:45 p.m.
The difference is weather. Reptile Revue is an indoor scheduled program; telescope viewing requires clear skies. Check the observatory event page close to departure rather than treating the published date as a guarantee.
What we did not label free
Several promising programs list no ticket price. That is not a confirmed zero-dollar event. The Summer Reading Finale, therapy-dog reading, and D&D workshop may still be good choices, but their listings do not all spell out admission or participation terms.
If cost matters, ask the organizer. Food, supplies, transportation, and purchases remain family expenses even when admission is free.
